CATCHING UP

Now that we are gaining momentum on locating everyone, I thought it might be fun to catch up with our classmates since high school.

Our very first spotlight is HEATHER (HANSON) FISHER.

What have you been doing since high school?
Well, I attended BYU-Idaho and graduated in 2002 with an associates degree in pre-law/political science and then graduated from BYU in 2004 with a bachelors degree in political science.

The highlight of my time in college was the opportunity to do an internship with the US House Government Reform Committee. In addition to the great work experience, I fell in love with Washington DC and hope for the opportunity to live there again in the future.

Just prior to graduation in 2004 I began working on the John Swallow for Congress Campaign as the Office Manager and Campaign Scheduler.

In 2005 I began working for NAI Utah Commercial Real Estate. I began as an Administrative Assistant and later moved in to an Office Manager role.

In January 2008 I moved into the Human Resources Manager role that I love! While at NAI Utah I have been able to plan more than 30 events annually, including large meetings and several black tie events. Now I spend much of my day in interviews and overseeing the Administrative Staff in our 5 locations. I love my company and my job! I am hiring for several positions so if you are interested, send your resume to jobs@naiutah.com.

In 2003 I met and married my husband Matt Fisher. He graduated from Skyline High School and from the U of U. It’s definitely a mixed marriage!

We don’t have any children yet, but have the cutest puppy ever, Livvy. She is a miniature schnauzer and we have had her since Thanksgiving of 2007.

We own a townhouse in Draper, Utah. In addition to work, I am also involved in the young women youth group in my church so that keeps me busy too. Since high school I have taken photos here and there for friends of kids, engagements, weddings, and even aerial shots of SLC. I am hoping to do more with creative portrait photography.

What is your current favorite song?
I am very indecisive and knowing music has never been my forte so here are a few of my favs from my iPod:
The Luckiest – Ben Folds
Apologize – One Republic/Timbaland
Little Wonders – Rob Thomas
Everyday – Rascal Flatts
No One – Alicia Keyes
Love Song – Sara Bareilles

Favorite food indulgence?
I love Zupas restaurant, their salads, sandwiches, and soups are all good. Plus you get a chocolate dipped strawberry with every meal!

If you could have one super power what would it be?
That’s easy – to fly. It would take out the annoying traffic jams and the high costs of travel. How awesome would that be?!

Worst habit?
Staying up too late because I get up at 4:30a these days.

Sun or snow?
Sun, but I love it all.

What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Peanut butter and chocolate ice cream from Baskin Robbins.

Craziest thing you have ever done?
I have flown a small plane! Oh, and I just cut off ten inches of my hair!

What makes you laugh?
My husband and pretty much anything Steve Carell says or does (ie The Office, Get Smart).

Life would be more simple if…
I had four more hours in the day.

Your greatest accomplishments?
My college degree and receiving the Employee of the Year award in 2005. I have been blessed with many career opportunities that can be considered accomplishments, but are also due to the great mentors and leaders that have had the faith in me to give me the chance! I have never liked running, so since I just finished my second 5K in two months that is quite an accomplishment! If marriage can be considered an accomplishment, then I would say the opportunity to marry my husband and best friend. He is the best and I don’t know what I would do without him!
